Fun filled day at Gatorland Florida

August 16, 2023

We had the pleasure of visiting a new attraction in Orlando, Florida! Gatorland Florida sits about 15 minutes outside of downtown Orlando. This park is the original themed park in Orlando, sitting among two swamps since 1949. I am actually disappointed that we didn’t visit Gatorland earlier because we had an amazing experience.

We started our day with a behind the scenes tour and checking out baby alligators. We were lucky enough to have an excellent tour guide for our day, Brandon Fischer, Gatorland’s alligator expert and Director of Media Production. There are thousands of alligators throughout the park, of all ages! Most of the animals throughout the park have been captured from local areas.

Screamin’ Gator Zip Line

Our next adventure was the Screamin’ Gator Zip Line. This is an absolute must and perfect for all ages in your party that meet the height requirements. Make sure to wear closed toe shoes to enjoy this attraction!

Flying over alligators & crocodiles… add that to your bucket list!

Adventure Hour

Next stop was Gatorland’s breeding marsh for Adventure Hour. When we walked into the enclosure Brandon made sure to draw a line and explained where we could throw from. He made a gator call and called all of his friends right over to us!

The gators quickly knew what time it was! We took turns grabbing meat from the bucket and feeding our new friends. The gators waited at the marsh’s edge and some even started to come onto the embankment. More gators swam up as we continued to toss lunch to the expecting gators.

For the gators, Adventure Hour is a daily occurrence which visitors can add onto their visit. For us, this behind-the-scenes tour was a venture that won’t be forgotten. This was such a thrill and a once in a lifetime experience.

Capybara Experience

Our last stop of the day with Brandon was heading over and hanging out with the capybaras! Jerry & Boba stole our hearts and were so sweet! What is a capybara? Capybara, native to South America, are a current internet obsession with over 116 million views on Tik Tok and Instagram! The giant rodents are known for their friendly and social nature. Capybaras are the largest living rodents in the world! We even got to meet Goose!

You will want to make sure you check out the shows that are offered throughout the day.  This is the best way to learn about the alligators in the park and also have some laughs! The Gator Jumparoo Show is only one of three main unparalleled wildlife presentations that can be enjoyed during a visit to the park. After this show you can meet a gator up close & personal!

Gatorland isn’t just a fun place for tourists to visit, but a sanctuary for their animals. Alligators at one point in time were almost extinct in Florida so the main goal for the park is to educate guests about alligators and help them have a long life when they have to be rescued from the wild.
