Summer is finally upon us… after what seems like the longest winter, ever! I am so glad to be able to share the natural insect repellent that we have found! We have many summer trips planned this summer and have been doing lots of hiking to Bradbury Mountain and Morse Mountain. On our first trip of the season to Morse Mountain we were instantly swarmed by mosquitos and the night had way more bites than I could count! Living in Maine having mosquitos during the summer comes with the territory but as a mom there is nothing worse than having little ones that have bug bites with not many options for relief. The only thing worse than the mosquitos though, are ticks! Working in a pediatric office I cannot tell you how many times a day we get calls about tick bites and kiddos coming in that are testing positive for Lyme disease.
I instantly started to look online to see what other moms were using for their little ones, and found Buzz Away Extreme spray and towelettes. I instantly found that it was DEET-Free and contains Citronella Oil, Geranium Oil, Lemongrass Oil, Cedar oil, and a dozen other plant based carrier oils, aromatic essentials oils, plant-based preservatives, and purified water.
I received the Buzz Away Extreme 4oz Spray and the towelettes and couldn’t wait to try them out. I put them right into our bag to head out on our next adventure! One of the first things I noticed upon using the spray was that it wasn’t smelly or greasy like most other bug sprays. Off we went on our walk and two hours later we were back, bite free!
The spray and towelettes lasts 4 hours so you can just apply and not have to worry about re-applying while you’re out enjoying nature!
The towelettes also may be my new favorite because they are super easy to apply with those wiggly kiddos!
