Mom hacks for School Lunches

Mom hacks for school lunches Sistema

This post is sponsored by Everywhere Agency on behalf of Sistema® ; however, all thoughts and opinions expressed are my own.

We are preparing for kindergarten and we’ve started working our way down the long to-do list. On the list includes getting a new backpack, lunch box, and all of the fun school accessories but what one doesn’t automatically think of is school lunches. Having a child that is a picky eater, calls for packing lunch to make sure she’s not hungry all day long. Another reason for us packing lunch for Madison throughout the school year is so we can ensure that she is getting those delicious, healthy meals that she enjoys during the summer.

While we have all been focusing on eating healthy, packing lunches will now go hand in hand. Making a fun lunch including different shapes and little notes, Madison will be so excited to see! The ideas are endless and we have been having a blast putting lunch together for her last few days for pre-k, while we count down the days until kindergarten.

I’ve put together some mom hacks to make the process easier for everyone in your family!

Involve your kiddos in the planning. Ask them what some of their favorites are, or what they’ve seen their friends bring to school that they’d like to try.

Grocery shop on Sunday and make sure to pick out foods that will not go back easily and will last you all week. Make sure to use the freshest ones first.

Stock up on healthy easy snacks. I make sure to have these foods on hand for when the fresh foods start to go and are always easy snacks: pirates booty, granola, wheat crackers, dried cranberries, and rice cakes.

Make in bulk for those days when you have sports practice or a late work meeting these items are perfect! Hard-boiled eggs, Quiche, Muffins… or leftovers!

Pack Ahead – My husband has a morning routine down where he will get the snacks & lunches ready in the morning. This process works for him, but for me I totally suggest packing the night before so you aren’t rushing around as much in the morning.

I cannot tell you how many different storage containers we have gone through between working in an office and packing lunch for the kids. I found that I never had that right one, and would end up bringing 3-4 just for one lunch. I discovered Sistema® and am in love with how easy they make it to pack a lunch. They make it easy to fit everything in one plus they are really well made!

Along with a healthier approach this back to school season, we are working on other healthy habits. Screen time will be put to a minimal, especially with homework and reading at night. What about for the parents? Oh yes, monthly date nights will be a must this school year. Life gets busy but keeping consistent with those healthy habits are a must. A healthy habit is also never too late to start or to break a bad habit. What I have learned is that consistency is key, and your kiddos look up to you. If you are making the best choices, your little ones will want to make those same choices.

What are your favorite lunches to pack your little ones?

Xo,

Ashley
