Learning To Read with Reading Eggs

August 10, 2019

Ever since Madison was younger she was always interested in looking at books and having us read them to her. Being 5 years old, she is still in avid learner and extremely advanced. Having a child that is constantly wanting to learn, but that is also super busy means we have to find ways to keep learning fun and interactive.

I recently was introduced to Reading Eggs which has been perfect for these summer months when school is out of session but we still want to keep the learning going. Before the school year ended we were educated about summer reading loss. This is when young readers don’t continue to read over the summer and they lose those important skills they’ve just gained. One summer off can sometimes mean a whole school year of struggling academic performance.

What is Reading Eggs?

Reading Eggs is a multi-award winning learning resource, created by expert educators with over 30 years of experience, teaching children essential reading and phonics skills. Perfect for children ages 2–13, Reading Eggs supports the essential foundations of reading with its highly engaging lessons, games, and e-books!

How does it work?

The app features fun and colorful lessons that helps transform that way your kiddos use technology. Turning screen time into an educational tool Reading Eggs focuses on the 5 essential elements to help establish reading; phonemic awareness, phonics instruction, vocabulary, fluency and comprehension.

When you download the app and set up the program you will be prompted to take a placement quiz for each kiddo that you add. This ensures that your child will be starting in the correct reading level.

All of the lessons feature fun characters, use colorful animation, songs, and rewards to keep children motivated. The program is completely interactive to keep children on task which is a must for our busy kiddos!

One of my favorite parts of Reading Eggs is the detailed progress reports that get sent to you. The updates features information about what Madison is reading, her current level and her test scores. This is an awesome way to see what she is learning!

Learning to read is one of the most important skills your child will learn. By incorporating Reading Eggs into your child’s daily routine, you will be helping to prepare them for the same structured learning they will need to succeed and feel confident at school. Making sure that they are learning at their own rate, gradually building their reading confidence and rewarding them at every step of the way.
