Fighting Cold Season with Smart Family Nutrition

Cold & Flu season is upon us and working in healthcare I see all of the sick kiddos on a daily basis. Working in healthcare also makes me extremely aware of what is going around for viruses and being extra cautious with all the germs. We constantly talk about hand washing and things we can do to not spread germs, even making little songs up about hand washing! On top of the daily activities, kids have homework, sports and extracurricular activities and can easily become run down. However all that pressure can bring their immune systems down and I want to make sure I keep my kiddos healthy including their digestive health. I recently discovered Smart Family Nutrition and have been using their probiotics on the kiddos, and I’m not sure if I should even say it out loud… we have avoided anything major so far.

What are probiotics? Probiotics are good bacteria that provide amazing health benefits and are essential for many vital body functions, including healthy digestion. When friends started mentioning to me that they were taking a probiotic, it interested me to find out more. What I first learned was that many things can alter healthy digestion, including busy mornings, stress at school, diet and changes in a routine. This is exactly what my family struggles with daily.

TUMMY SMART™ Sprinkle Packs & Smart Melts have been just what our family needed. They are super convenient and make on the go packaging so you can easily bring along on vacations or sleepovers. What makes Tummy Smart unique? It is a unique mix of probiotic stains with 10 billion liver cultures all while providing the building blocks of a healthy gut flora so kiddos can absorb and process all of the nutrients that we can give them.

With the help of Sears’s family research, Smart Family Nutrition chose strains that include Bacillus Coagulans, Bifidobacterium and Lactobaciullus, each has been shown to promote healthier tummies if taken regularly. Not cold & Flu season? Still take your probiotic regularly because those triggers that can alter healthy digestion can happen anytime.

No worries if you have a picky eater like mine, I have found ways around that. My daughter swore up and down to me that she could taste the probiotic, only when she saw me put the packet in her drink so I started coming up with different ways to include it in our daily routine. I use a Tummy Smart sprinkle packet into her yogurt, cereal and even chocolate shakes… and she doesn’t even blink twice! The TUMMY SMART™ SOFT MELTS Madison likes to refer to as her candy. They melt right in her mouth and she looks forward to having them in the morning and there is no added sugar!

Your kiddo’s digestive health is super important to keep up with. It not only is a key part of their brain development, but also their overall growth. Do you use Probiotics for yourself or your kiddo? I’d love to hear your story!
