Colic… oh man. The word colic instantly brings back flashbacks of those first few months of life with both kiddos, especially Madison. It seemed like it almost started from the first day she was born…she was angry. You know how parents get so excited for those newborn pictures in the hospital? Well, we had to cancel ours because Madison literally cried for hours straight. My firstborn, and the little girl that I was so excited about… seemed not so excited to meet us.

The days weren’t bad, but it seemed as soon as 7pm hit… it was witching hour. She was crying for hours on end and I felt like I was constantly nursing, but was not producing enough due to a low milk supply. We introduced formula and the fussiness seemed to stay the same, so we switched to soy formula. The soy formula resulted in no change, so I sent my husband off to Target to grab supplies. I asked him to get swaddles, a sound machine, and a new formula that our doctor had recommended called Nutramigen® with Enflora™ LGG®.

Nutramigen® is a hypoallergenic formula made with iron. The formula is designed to be effective for babies cow’s milk allergy. It’s easy-to-digest and reduces gas, crying and disturbed sleep (due to cow’s milk allergy) for a happier, better-rested baby and mom. Colic is a possible indication of cow’s milk allergy. Colic may occur as a delayed reaction within a few hours or days of consuming cow’s milk protein. Babies with cow’s milk allergy may have a range of indications of which colic could be just one. It’s important for your doctor to determine if your baby has cow’s milk allergy, so you can start managing the allergy right away.

In our household, we began referring to Nutramigen® as liquid gold. Being a hypoallergenic formula, the price was a bit more expensive than a regular type of formula, but in our eyes, we would have paid whatever to bring our kiddo some relief. A prominent benefit of Nutramigen® is that it is not soy-based and is dairy-free. Removing these intact proteins helps reduce the chance of allergic reaction in babies. Even when removing these ingredients, the formula is nutritionally complete, offering all the vitamins and nutrients a baby needs to help grow strong.

Nutramigen® with Enflora™ LGG® is the only formula with 3-in-1 allergy benefits published in clinical studies.

  • Fast relief: Starts working as early as the first feeding and reduces crying within 48 hours*
  • Fewer allergies: ~50% less chance of experiencing other allergies like asthma & eczema†
  • Fast return to cow’s milk: 1.8x more babies return to milk protein in as early as after 6 months of feeding‡

When Colton was born, he started experiencing colic, and we instantly talked to his doctor about Nutramigen®. Within 24 hours, he was a completely different baby. With our first child, it took us two long months trying to figure out what was going on, so I am thankful for going through it once to be able to realize what to look for the second time around. We found, with the formula change, that a sound machine, being swaddled, and tummy rubs made a difference.

Nutramigen® with Enflora™ LGG® is the only nutritionally complete, hypoallergenic formula with LGG probiotic for babies with cow’s milk allergy. For more information visit www.nutramigen.com or call 1-800-BABY123.
