As many of you know, I am a mother of two little humans… Madison who is 4 and Colton who is 8 months old. I have been through all of the firsts with Madison, and am currently watching with excitement as Colton learns something new daily. When planning our family, having a boy and girl seemed to be the perfect mix and getting to experience the best of both worlds.
It wasn’t until recently that I realized all of these firsts that we have been experiencing with Colton, will be our last. Having two children makes our family complete, but it is also bittersweet.
With Madison I found myself daily rushing things. I wanted her to roll over, crawl, walk & talk. I found myself constantly comparing and spending countless hours on the floor with her, helping her learn the next skill. Now knowing these firsts are our lasts, I am holding on a little tighter.
With all of our firsts together, comes with a last. He was the last one who created those soccer like kicks in my belly. The last one to sleep perfectly on my chest. The last one to have me up every two hours at night (I may not miss that part!).
Our oldest is four, so there are still many firsts between the both of them waiting for us. We have yet to send a child to school, off to their first sleepover, or on a first date. Their first kisses and first break-ups are still, hopefully far, away in our future.
I am staring longer into those grey eyes of his, and reminding myself to slow down but am documenting our days as I don’t want to forget a moment.
From his first smile, first giggle, first time he crawled, to currently where he has been mastering walking the furniture and pulling himself up on everything!
That first tooth, which was quickly followed by three more… which means lots out outfit changes for Colton! We always turn to our favorite clothes from Carter’s.
See I wasn’t kidding about the drool!
Anyone that knows me or has seen either one of my kiddos closets, knows that I may have a slight addiction to Carter’s. It is easy to have this addiction when the deals are always so awesome!
One of my favorite things about Carter’s is that there is something for every stage & season. The outfits to take them home from the hospital in, the first holiday outfits, first winter, spring and summer outfits. Did I mention how adorable they are?

February 21, 2018 at 4:31 pmFirst of all, I hope you realize how lucky you are to have digital media versus the boxes of fading hard copy photographs & giant VHS from days past, like I have. But even though everything is digital today, be sure to put dates on the drawings & crafts that your children give you over the years. They are just adorable!

February 23, 2018 at 8:33 amAdorable boy you have! I can totally identify with this post. With my son, I feel like we rushed through the milestones as well. I never thought twice really about it. As it turns out, he may end up my only, and now I am regretting rushing so much. Thank you for sharing this beautiful post.

February 23, 2018 at 9:37 amThis is so sweet. And a good reminder to slow down and appreciate the stage you are in. We are planning our 2nd now and this is good to keep in mind.

February 23, 2018 at 9:37 amAwww…so sweet! Love that you’ve been documenting his milestones like crazy! I have a four month old who, while I’m so excited to see her firsts, I’m also holding on to each moment. I will never get her tiny little newborn body snuggled against my chest, I will miss the middle of the night feedings when the whole world is quiet and it’s just her and I. While she’s our first baby, and we plan on having more, I cherish every milestone and will miss those precious moments we had. I can TOTALLY relate!

February 23, 2018 at 1:33 pmI have two kids. A boy and girl as well. I did the same as you. I was always wanting to rush onto the next milestone with my daughter (Madison) but when my son (Cooper) was born I knew he was my last and I just wanted to enjoy each stage with him.
